Weekly Favourites │1

experf face brush 1

Hey lovelies! Hope you're doing well :) I've been rather busy and kinda running out of ideas for new posts. So I decided I'd start a new series of my top 2 weekly favourites and these will include beauty and non-beauty related items. Sounds good? Let's start!

1. Real Tecniques Expert Face Brush ($.9.00): I finally got to try out the famous brushes! and have to admit that now I know what everyone was raving about. Don't know what took me so long but I'm sooooo happy I got a few. I use this brush for foundation and blush, it picks up so much powder in just one dab, it's amazing. I do it carefully to avoid looking like a clown but I like how precise it is. And for foundation, it really is pixel perfect in harsh light.

mac blushbaby 1

Mac Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby ($.20.00): One of my favourite blushes, it has such a natural finish. Blushbaby is a beige-pink shade, it's very sheer but can still be build up. Mac Mocha is similar but it has less brown in it.

What are your weekly favourites?

Review: Julep November 2012 Box│Bombshell

julep november 1

This month's Julep was all about suedes, but I wasn't really into the colours and finish. I enjoy wearing creme formulas so I picked the style Bombshell that comes with 2 polishes and a body frosting (plus 3 one-step polish remover pads). If you're not familiar with Julep: a monthly box with trendsetting new nail colours and beauty products for $.19.99 each. If you would like to join Julep, click here.

julep november 2

Pink Grapefruit Body Frosting: This body butter is packed with organic aloe vera, vitamin E and natural oils. It's very soothing and helps dry skin. The texture is very creamy but it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave an uncomfortable sensation like other body butters. I always forget to moisturize after I take a shower but this smells so good I can't stop using it.

Donna: is a smokey peacock blue creme, it can look darker with 2-3 coats. It's a beautiful colour, I previously didn't own anything like it so I'm glad I got it. It leaves a very glossy finish to the nails which I like.

Trina: is a deep aubergine with gold shimmer. The finish is quite different and if you're not careful you can see the brush strokes. I like to apply 2 coats. The shimmer is not very noticeable, only in direct sunlight.

Review: October 2012 Glossybox│USA

october glossybox 1

Hey lovelies! I apologize my review for October's Glossybox is super late! But better late than never, right? Last month's theme was SpaLuxe, with samples that were supposed to make you feel like you had a spa at home. If you're not familiar with Glossybox: is a monthly suscription service to get deluxe beauty samples delivered at your door for $21.00 each. If you want to sign up, click here.

There are 3 full size items in the box, just like in the September box. I must admit I wasn't as excited when I received it simply because I wasn't familiar with any of these brands. Except for Kryolan of course. And I wasn't too keen on getting another Kryolan for Glossybox product, but it turned out well.

1. Alterna Bamboo Luminous Shine Mist ($.22.00 for 4. oz): A light spray suitable for all hair types. It contains indian gooseberry and organic bamboo that controls frizz. I have frizzy hair and though I've only used it once, i noticed it helped with the flyaways. I don't like the smell much because it reminds me of hair spray, that I never use. The sample is 0.85 oz, I think it's a pretty good size. This spray is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic dyes.
2. Kryolan for Glossybox Blusher in Glossy Rosewood ($.9.00 for 2.5g): The texture of this blush is silky smooth and has a very good pigmentation. I also like the scent, it smells minty but sweet. I don't know if it's because of the loofa soap or by default. Even though I like this blusher, I would have preferred to get the Carol's Daughter Shea Souffle because it's more accurate with the theme.
3. Heartland Fragrances Exfoliating Loofa Soap in Peppermint ($.8.00 for 6 oz): This is my favourite item from the box, it's something I've been using everyday and my skin feels softer. The peppermint scent is glorious, I love it. The loofa is supposed to help with circulation as it exfoliates rough parts of the skin. I don't push it too hard against my skin because the loofa can be pretty hard and potentially scratch it. I recommend using it everyday on arms, feet and legs.
4. ModelCo Lip Duo Lipstick in Dusk and Lipgloss in Striptease ($.39.00 for .13 oz/0.7 fl.oz): This duo is described as an ultimate pairing lip colour, a flawless, long lasting lipstick and an intense beaming gloss. I never heard of this brand before, and it seems like something you could find at any drugstore, but that's just my perception. I like that it comes with a convenient mirror on one side. The lipstick is very smooth, like a creme formula. The shade is a bit darker than from what I'm used to wearing, but i still think it's a pretty shade. The lipgloss is very sheer nude with micro shimmer in it. I don't like the scent at all, it smells like candy; both textures are very nice and pigmented.
5. Nastassja Skin Enzyme Facial Peel ($.40.00 for 2 oz): A revolutionary facial peel infused with vitamins and nutrients. It exfoliates with papain, a naturally occurring enzyme in papaya and gently eliminates dead, dry skin cells. I have only used this peel once, so I haven't been able to tell if it improved my skin. It did looked clear after I rinsed it, but I'll keep you updated!

Swatch: Mac Frost Lipstick in Angel

mac angel

Mac Angel Lipstick ($.15.00) is described as a light pink and it's one of the most popular shades. I much rather describe it as a medium pink with a frost finish. It has micro shimmer in it and it leaves a glossy appearance. I find it a bit darker than Creme Cup, though it's believed it's the same hue with the exception that Angel has shimmer in it. I find the two shades to be completely different. I find the frost finish a little drying but less than a matte finish, it seems very sheer but it lasts 2-3 hours on my lips. I like Creme Cup much more than Angel simply because of the finish. Creme Cup leaves the lips looking milky and glossy.

Which one do you like better? Angel or Creme Cup?

Swatch: Mac Powder Matte Blush in Melba

melba 2

Hello lovelies! Hope you're all having a great week. Today I have a quick post to show you one of my favourite blushes. It's the Mac Powder Blush in Melba ($.20.00), a brown-peach with a matte finish. As you all know, peach is my favourite shade to wear as it's the most wearable colour and looks very natural. The texture is very smooth and very pigmented. Love it!

Review: Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss in Sugarbomb

sugarbomb gloss 1

I was lucky enough to win a second giveaway prize back in September! The giveaway was hosted by the lovely India Robyn who runs The Jewel Beauty. She has an amazing blog and is a sweetheart, really. She's super nice and also makes jewelry, check her blog if you can, you won't regret it! :) The prize was the Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss of your choice, and I picked Sugarbomb since I had recently bought the blusher. It's a shimmering pinky-nude lipgloss with a non-sticky texture. I absolutely love it because I can't stand sticky lip glosses and  of course, I'm in love with the packaging. And honestly Benefit has got to be the makeup brand with the nicest packaging!

sugarbomb gloss 3

The consistency of the lip gloss is very light and non- sticky as I mentioned before. However, the staying power is amazing, I even took a shower with my lip gloss on and it didn't faded away! The colour is very natural and has silver shimmer that makes it look very pretty. I'd say it lasts 2-4 hours without eating/drinking anything. It's buildable and it can look peachier if you apply several coats. I do not advise do add this lipgloss on top of a lipstick because it tends to run the colour underneath. (I was wearing a matte formula when this happened).

I really love this lipgloss, is my go-to and my new favourite at the moment. I love using it along with my Sugarbomb Blush as it complements it. Thank you so much India for hosting an awesome giveaway, I feel really lucky I had the chance to participate and WIN! Thank you so much! <3

Review: Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox

voxbox9

I got my Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox a few days ago, I have not had enough time to post much and that's why today I'll post double! I hope you're all well and are enjoying november. I sure am! I'm going to be an aunt pretty soon and couldn't be more excited :))) So this is my second Influenster box, the first one was the Latina Voxbox I got back in August. I'm really excited about this box since it's dedicated to beauty bloggers.

NYC New York Color® IndividualEyes Custom Compact: This is a limited edition compact that includes 4 eyeshadows, a primer base and an illuminator. The pigmentation is excellent and it comes really handy. The only thing it's missing is a mirror, it would be perfect for travelling.

voxbox2

Kiss® Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit: These fake lashes are made out of human hair, which freaked me out a bit. I still gave them a try and was impressed by how natural they look. I don't really find use to the little tweezer-like thing, I much prefer to place them with my hand. The glue is latex-free and dries clear, it holds the eyelashes in place. I really like the look it adds to my makeup, I'd buy and extra pair of lashes, they're amazing!

voxbox6

Goody® Simple Styles Spin Pin: the spin pin's are just great, I like wearing my hair in a bun sometimes and I'm always looking for a way to hold it, but since my hair is very straight it always comes down. I love how handy these are and how long my bun lasts when I use them. I absolutely recommend these if you have straight hair like me.

voxbox7

Not Your Mother's® Kinky Moves™ Frizz Control Hair CreamI was really excited to try out this hair cream, and I've heard really great things about the brand. Unfortunately the tube in my box came completely empty, I was quite disappointed about it but I can't really complain, this things happen. It even came sealed, so it's probably a manufacturer error.

voxbox5

Bath & Body Works® Mini Candles: Probably my least favourite thing in the box. I didn't liked the scent on this mini candle at all so I probably won't be lighting it much. However, it is a pretty good size.

I was also supposed to get a EBOOST® sample, but it wasn't in my box.

Have you heard about Influenster before? Did you got your VoxBox?
